City Pound

The City of Camrose does not have an Animal Shelter or Humane Society, we have a City Dog Pound. A Dog Pound is a city owned facility where found dogs are held (when not licensed), so they are kept safe until their owners can claim them.  We do not offer a “surrender” service because we are not a Shelter. If you need to find a new home for your animal, please contact a shelter or advertise "free to good home". We do not have a Cat Bylaw and so there is no enforcement regarding cats, so the City asks and hopes that cat owners are responsible as well and do not allow them to roam and become a nuisance.

Veterinary Clinics in the City of Camrose do not take in animals. Please do not contact them or drop unwanted animals there. They provide pet care for our furry loved ones by appointments and are not a shelter. The same goes for the pet stores as they do not accept animals either.

If you have lost or have found an animal, please call the Camrose Police Service at 780.672.8300, please include name of animal, complete description and a picture would be great.
