The Waste Collection schedule remains the same for Tuesday, July 1st

Report a missed collection or a damaged cart here. Please be sure that your cart is out and accessible for 24 hours after submitting a request.

The City of Camrose contracts Integrity Waste Solutions for residential waste collection. Garbage and compost are now collected using two separate trucks - garbage in the morning and compost in the afternoon. Collection starts at 7:45am on your collection day and may not be completed until 7:00pm. If you have any concerns, please contact our Engineering Department at WasteCarts@camrose.ca or 780.672.4428.
Compost Bunker

Camrose residents are invited to take limited amounts of compost from the bunker located at 4512 - 53 Street (Rec Centre Parking Lot). There is no cost for the compost, but please limit the amount of compost you take as this ensures as many residents as possible can use the material. Quantities are limited and are available on a first-come-first-served basis.

Please do not dump any unwanted yard waste in the compost bunkers or mulch pile.

Damaged Carts

All waste and collection carts are the property of the City of Camrose. If a cart is damaged due to normal wear and tear, it will be repaired or replaced at no cost. The City maintains a supply of spare parts and replacement carts to ensure this service runs smoothly.

To help us complete repairs quickly:

  • Make sure the cart is empty and easily accessible.
  • Repairs cannot be completed if carts are behind fences, gates, garages, or other obstructions.

Please note: If a cart is lost or damaged due to misuse (e.g., burn marks, overloading, or other identifiable causes), a replacement fee of $85 will apply.

Most repairs or replacements are completed within 1–3 business days.

If you notice any damage or have concerns about your waste or collection cart, please submit it here or contact the Engineering Department at WasteCarts@camrose.ca or 780.672.4428.

Extra Garbage and Organics Waste

If you have extra garbage, you can either take it to the landfill or purchase a solid waste collection tag for $5.00 per tag at City Hall.

How to use a Solid Waste Collection Tag (Bag Tag):

  • Place your extra waste in a non-returnable plastic bag or a double-ply cardboard box container of sufficient strength and size to hold the waste contained.
  • Apply the waste tag to the outside of the closed container (bag or box).
  • Place the container 1 metre from the collection carts so it will not get in the way of the collection arm on the waste truck.
  • Ensure there are no sharp, pointed, or jagged objects that may puncture, tear, or split the container.
  • Containers are not to exceed 1 metre in length or 20kg in weight.
  • Boxes are not allowed to become wet as to collapse or open when moved.

If you have extra organic waste, you can take it to the organics area of the landfill for a fee. Extra organics carts are available to rent for $6.30 per month with an additional $50.00 handling fee. Call the Engineering Department at 780.672.4428 for more details. Please do not dump any unwanted yard waste in the compost bunkers or mulch pile.

Household Hazardous Waste / Recycling Roundup

Every year, the City of Camrose hosts a Recycling Roundup (formerly known as the Household Hazardous Waste Roundup) in June and October. This year, the events will take place on June 20 - June 21, 2025 and October 10 - October 11, 2025. For special circumstances, please call Amy Johnson, Senior Municipal Engineering Technologist, at 780.672.4428.

Household Hazardous Waste

Unused household products that contain corrosive, toxic, flammable, or reactive ingredients are considered to be household hazardous waste. These materials should not be put in the trash or poured down the drain. Instead, reduce the use of chemicals or use safer alternatives and make use of the Recycling Roundup for safe disposal. View a list of household hazardous wastes that are accepted.

Electronics

If it has a cord or batteries, it can be recycled! In general, almost all electrical devices are eligible to be recycled, such as games, toys and music devices, small appliances, power and air tools, and lawn and garden equipment (excluding gas-powered items). Reducing Your Waste

When reducing your waste in the home, it's best to use alternatives to different disposables like:

  • Paper towel
  • Garbage liners
  • Wax paper
  • Disposable plates
  • Cups

You can reduce paper waste by cancelling any unwanted mail you get. When something is broken, try to repair it before buying a replacement. Using cloth diapers is another great way to reduce waste.

Water and bottles

You can drink tap water to reduce bottle waste and refill your shampoo, conditioner, body wash and hand soap containers.

Separate your items

Some recyclables can take up a lot of space in your garbage can or bag:

  • Cardboard
  • Newspaper
  • Tin Cans
  • Glass
  • Milk Jugs
  • Milk Cartons

If you separate the above items, you can take them to the Centra Cam Recycling Depot located at 4402 - 51 Avenue for recycling. View the Recycle with Centra Cam website for a list of what they recycle.

Bring in your refundable containers

Take your refundable containers to the local bottle depot. This will not only reduce your household waste and help the environment, but you will make some extra money. Below is a list of containers that are refundable:

  • Plastic drinking bottles from pop, water, and juice
  • Plastic Jugs, poly cups, and bottles
  • Aluminum cans from pop, juice, and energy drinks
  • Polycoated containers from juice
  • Bag in a box and juice pouches
  • Glass bottles
  • Other metal cans from tomato juice

Selective Shopping

  • Shop with reusable shopping bags made from canvas or use string bags
  • Take your own mug or thermos to the coffee shop (some shops offer a discount price when you provide your own container)
  • Avoid disposable razors, pens, pencils, and lighters
  • Choose rechargeable batteries and long-life light bulbs.
  • Buy in bulk
