The City of Camrose is excited to announce the launch of a new notification service for the residents called “Voyent Alert!”.

Voyent Alert! is a multipurpose notification service that will be used to communicate important information to residents. Notifications will be sent for critical incidents like fire, flood, and extreme weather, as well as day-to-day communications such as road closures, schedule updates, and new programs.

“The City understands that residents are bombarded by messages, spam, and notifications from many resources that can create excessive noise,” Mayor PJ Stasko says. “Now, more than ever, it’s important to offer solutions that are highly targeted to our residents since they rely on us to give them information they need and in a way they want.”

Traditionally, the City’s alerts were widely broadcast to the entire city, meaning even those who were far away and not necessarily impacted by an issue would still receive a notification. Voyent Alert!, on the other hand, can be laser-targeted, so residents only receive the alerts that are relevant to them and their location.

Users can choose to be notified by one, several, or all of the following communication channels: text message, email, voice call – either to their mobile phone or a landline, or directly to their iOS or Android device through the Voyent Alert! app. They can opt in, or out, of any non-critical communications at any time. Most alerts will also be displayed on the City’s website, Facebook, and Twitter.

Additionally, users will never have to be concerned about their privacy. Voyent Alert! is completely anonymous! Resident data, right down to their location, is also anonymous and personal information will never be shared. Plus residents don’t have to worry about remembering another username or password since the software uses 2 Factor Authentication system.

“We’re very excited to be able to offer this new service,” Mayor Stasko says. “This software will be very useful to our residents, so I encourage everyone to sign up!”

Sign up now by downloading the Voyent Alert! app from the Apple App Store or Google Play or going to www.camrose.ca/notifications.
