The Adult Lifeguard & Swim Instructor School will put candidates through all of the required courses to become a certified Lifeguard and a certified Swim Instructor for FREE!
This would be perfect for stay-at-home parents, retirees, or any other mature adults looking for a part-time position!
How to become a candidate for the Adult Lifeguard & Swim Instructor School
Hopeful candidates will need to submit a resume to the Mayer Aquatic Centre by Monday, March 20, 2023. We will then conduct interviews during the week of March 27 - 31. If you are a successful candidate, you will receive a Conditional Letter of Offer and will have to go through the required City of Camrose onboarding process.
When will the Adult Lifeguard & Swim Instructor School run?
This program will run every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:00am – 2:30pm starting April 18 and going until June 15. Candidates will have to attend a minimum of 90% of the program.
What do you need to know prior to applying for the Adult Lifeguard & Swim Instructor School
- Candidates will need to be able to confidently swim (but do not need to be an expert, as we will work on increasing endurance and strength throughout the program).
- There will be a contract to sign outlining minimum hours required to work once candidates are certified. These hours to work will mostly be Earlybird, morning, and afternoon shifts from September until the end of June.
- Candidates will need to become certified as both a Lifeguard and as a Swim Instructor. As soon as candidates have successfully completed the program, they will automatically be hired onto the Mayer Aquatic Centre’s team.
- We require a minimum of 4 candidates to run this program.
