About Us

The Camrose Arts Council Board is comprised of two city councilors and five Members-at-Large who are residents of Camrose.  View the current members here. The Camrose Arts Council Board meets on the third Thursday of each month, except for July, August and December, at 5:00 p.m., in the Chuck MacLean Arts Centre.

Grant Opportunities

Camrose Arts Council Arts and Culture Grant Council Grant

The Camrose Arts Council offers grants for Arts and Culture initiatives in Camrose. In 2024, Council has set aside $30,000 to fund the grants. There are two granting opportunities each year due on March 30 and September 30.

Steps to Receive a Grant

  1. Must follow the eligibility requirements as defined in the Arts and Culture Grant Funding Eligibility and Application Policy
  2. Complete application 
  3. Submit an application by March 30 or by September 30:
    • Email to the Camrose Arts Council Board or 
    • Mail it to City Hall, 5204 - 50 Avenue, Camrose, AB T4V 0S8 or
    • Drop it off in person at City Hall anytime between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
  4. If awarded, enter into a Grant Agreement with the City of Camrose. 
  5. Receive the grant funds.
  6. Report the results in the Final Account Report.

City Prime Time No-Fee Events at Jeanne & Peter Lougheed Performing Arts Centre

The City of Camrose and the University of Alberta in partnership offer No-Fee Events to support community engagement and accessibility to the Jeanne & Peter Lougheed Centre.

The Camrose Arts Council determines allocation of the City Prime Time No-Fee Events. There are five No-Fee events in the Cargill Theatre, and five No-Fee events in the Mayor Hall or Christenson Nelson Gallery.

Applications will be considered in the order that they are received throughout the calendar year.

July 2024-2025 No event days available in the Mayor Community Hall with 2 event days available in the Cargill Theatre.

Steps to Receive a No-Fee Event:

  1. Eligibility as defined in the Arts and Culture Grant Funding Eligibility and Application Policy
    • The event must be both admission free to the community at large and reflect the overall vision of the Jeanne & Peter Lougheed Performing Arts Centre, the enhancement and development of the arts, culture, and education for the benefit of the community served by the City of Camrose and the University of Alberta and those additional communities served by the Jeanne & Peter Lougheed Arts Centre.
    • The event day shall be intended and used to further the Applicant's activities and must not either directly or indirectly be intended or used for profit or gain.
    • Silver collection and or donations at the door shall are not permitted.
  2. How to apply:
    • First contact the Jeanne & Peter Lougheed Centre to confirm whether the event date and room are available.
    • Complete an application which is to include details about your event and organization and include a copy of the confirmation that the event date is available at the Jeanne & Peter Lougheed Centre.
  3. Submit an application by:
    • Email to the Camrose Arts Council Board or 
    • Mail it to City Hall, 5204 - 50 Avenue, Camrose, AB T4V 0S8 or
    • Drop it off in person at City Hall anytime between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.

The Camrose Arts and Culture Master Plan was completed in 2016 which led to the establishment of the Camrose Arts Council whose first organizational meeting was held on February 3, 2017.
