Every year the Hospice Society of Camrose & District offers a training program that is open to the public. All are welcome to participate, whether you choose to become a volunteer or not. However, first spots are reserved for those intending to complete volunteer registration. Those choosing to become registered volunteers will be interviewed, asked to supply references, and undertake a criminal record check. Training occurs on two consecutive weekends: Friday evenings are 7 – 9:00 pm Saturdays & Sundays are 9:00 am – 4:00 pm Training Program Outline: - Introduction to Palliative/end-of-life Support, and the Value of Silence - Effective Communications - Family Dynamics - Emotional & Spiritual Support: A vision for holistic care - Companioning the Bereaved - Physical Care of the Dying - Grief & Bereavement - Self Care: Grace and compassion for self and others Those who wish to become volunteer caregivers must complete all training sessions.

Medical marijuana is a rapidly changing topic and has great implications for workplaces. Managing medical marijuana in the workplace is complex and requires specialized knowledge of medical cannabis, workplace policy and case law. Approaching recreational legalization adds another layer of challenges. The information you hear will ensure you have the tools to mitigate risk in your organization. The Master Class is a small group, facilitated “working” class. In this workshop we will do a deep dive on your Drug and Alcohol Policy to ensure it is cannabis compliant. Participants will leave with a new draft of their policy. Participants will also leave with business processes for managing medical and recreational cannabis disclosures.
