Garbage

Integrity Waste Solutions is the contracted provider of residential waste collection services in Camrose.

Residential garbage is collected weekly using black carts. Collection starts at 7:45AM on your collection day and may not be completed until 7PM.  Please have carts ready before collection start time.

Learn how to prepare you cart for collection, dispose of extra garbage, and get help with cart or collection issues.

How Do I...?

Set out carts before 7:45am to guarantee collection according to your collection calendar. The maximum cart weight for each cart cannot exceed 50kg.

Preparing your waste cart

  • Ensure cart lids are completely closed
  • Please do not overfill the cart
  • Keep household hazardous waste out of the cart
  • Keep carts a metre away from any obstruction

Front street collection

Place your carts with wheels touching the curb of the street (at the mouth of your driveway touching the edge of the gutter,) with the cart facing forward, away from your home. Use the arrows on the cart to guide you.

Back lane collection

Place your carts with wheels touching the edge of the lane or in front of your driveway with the cart facing forward, away from your home. Use the arrows on the cart to guide you.

Almost everything that doesn't go in your green cart or recycling bags can go in your black cart! For example, diapers, paper towel, and wax paper. However, the following items are NOT accepted:

  • Household hazardous waste
  • E-waste
  • Animal carcasses
  • Demolition material
  • Any other harmful or hazardous items

If you have any concerns, please contact our Engineering Department at engineer@camrose.ca or at 780.672.4428.

The Camrose Regional Solid Waste Authority transferred ownership of the Camrose Regional Landfill to GFL Environmental Inc., the long-time operator of the Landfill.

View the GFL website.

Location: Township Rd 463 & Range Rd 203
Directions:
Head south on 50 Street to Township Road 463 then go west on TWP 463 for approximately 800m (1/2mile) to the Landfill entrance.

Phone: 1.825.518.4886 (GFL Environmental Inc.)

Scavenging at the Landfill is strictly forbidden. Cash, debit, and credit payments are accepted.

If you have extra garbage, you can either take it to the landfill or purchase a solid waste collection tag for $5.00 per tag at City Hall.

How to use a Solid Waste Collection Tag (Bag Tag):

  • Place your extra waste in a non-returnable plastic bag or a double-ply cardboard box container of sufficient strength and size to hold the waste contained.
  • Apply the waste tag to the outside of the closed container (bag or box).
  • Place the container 1 metre from the collection carts so it will not get in the way of the collection arm on the waste truck.
  • Ensure there are no sharp, pointed, or jagged objects that may puncture, tear, or split the container.
  • Containers are not to exceed 1 metre in length or 20kg in weight.
  • Boxes are not allowed to become wet as to collapse or open when moved.

All waste and organic waste collection carts are the property of the City of Camrose. If a cart is damaged due to normal wear and tear, it will be repaired or replaced at no cost. The City maintains a supply of spare parts and replacement carts to ensure this service runs smoothly.

To help us complete repairs quickly:

  • Make sure the cart is empty and easily accessible.
  • Repairs cannot be completed if carts are behind fences, gates, garages, or other obstructions.

Please note: If a cart is lost or damaged due to misuse (e.g., burn marks, overloading, or other identifiable causes), a replacement fee of $85 will apply.

Most repairs or replacements are completed within 1–3 business days.

If you notice any damage or have concerns about your waste or collection cart, please submit it here or contact the Engineering Department at WasteCarts@camrose.ca or 780.672.4428.

If your organic waste was not collected, please contact Amy Johnson, Senior Municipal Engineering Technologist.

Be Recycle Ready

  • Give containers a quick rinse before putting in your recycling.
  • Containers must be empty for recycling
  • Place materials clean, dry and loose in your recycling.
  • Flatten and bundle cardboard to save space.
  • Lids and labels can remain on containers.
  • Have your recycling to the curb by 7 a.m. on collection day.
  • Hazardous materials, like batteries, medical sharps, and hazardous aerosols do not belong in your recycling. Safely recycle them at a designated drop off location.

How Do I...?

Recycling bags must be put out before 7:45AM on your collection day.

Use see-through (blue or clear) bags for your recycling. Recycling bags should not exceed 20 kg (44 lb) or 184 L. Black garbage bags or opaque/non-see-through bags cannot be used for recycling.

Bags should not block vehicle paths. During winter conditions, place your bags on a flat surface clear of any snow and ice.

Materials that are not placed inside your bags will not be collected. Ensure all items are placed loosely inside your bags, and that cardboard is flattened, bundled, and placed beneath your bags or in an empty cardboard box no bigger than 60 cm x 60 cm.

Council approved a one-year extension of the cost-sharing agreement with Camrose County to continue offering Recycling Roundup events in 2026. You can contact Amy Johnson, Senior Municipal Engineering Technologist at 780.672.4428 with any questions.

2026 Spring Roundup: June 5, 3PM—7PM & June 6, 9AM—3PM
2026 Fall Roundup: October 2, 3PM—7PM & October 3, 9AM—3PM

Household Hazardous Waste

Unused household products that contain corrosive, toxic, flammable, or reactive ingredients are considered to be household hazardous waste. These materials should not be put in the trash or poured down the drain. Instead, reduce the use of chemicals or use safer alternatives and make use of the Recycling Roundup for safe disposal.

Paint and Used Oil Recycling

The following items are accepted at City locations year-round; there is no fee/cost at the following locations:

Paint at the Landfill or Recycling Depot
Used Oil, Containers, and Filters at the Landfill

Electronics

If it has a cord or batteries, it can be recycled! In general, almost all electrical devices are eligible to be recycled, such as games, toys and music devices, small appliances, power and air tools, and lawn and garden equipment (excluding gas-powered items).

Alberta has moved to an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) system for recycling.  Under EPR, the companies that produce packaging and paper products are responsible for funding and managing the recycling of those materials.  Curbside recycling is part of this program.

Circular Materials is responsible for managing Alberta's shift to EPR.

You can learn more about this change by visiting our project page at www.ourcamrose.ca or by visiting Circular Materials website at www.circularmaterials.ca
