Rail Safety Week Proclamation

For more than 20 years, CN has partnered with Operation Lifesaver Canada (OL) to raise public awareness about the dangers of crossing and trespassing on railway property. In recent years, there has been a concerning increase in incidents resulting in serious injuries and fatalities. Factors such as inattention and distraction at crossings, unsafe behaviours near trains, the presence of encampments along rail corridors, and mental health challenges have all contributed to this troubling trend. These issues highlight the need for renewed focus on safety, awareness, and support across our communities.

Therefore Mayor PJ Stasko, on behalf of Camrose City Council, proclaims September 15-21, 2025 as “Rail Safety Week” in the City of Camrose to promote public awareness and education about rail safety in order to save lives and prevent injuries in our community.
