Curbside Recycling is Coming to Camrose!

Camrose residents will begin receiving curbside recycling collection starting October 1, 2026 as part of Alberta’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) program, managed by Circular Materials.

This new curbside recycling service will be provided at no additional cost to taxpayers. Alberta’s EPR program shifts the cost and responsibility for residential recycling from municipalities to the producers of packaging and paper products.

As part of the process, the City reviewed different collection options and gathered feedback from residents, industry professionals, and collection providers before bringing a recommendation to Council. Council approved participation in the provincial curbside recycling program in May 2026.

Under the approved Circular Materials program:

  • Recycling will be collected every two weeks
  • Residents will use clear/blue bags for recycling collection
  • Recycling pickup will occur on the same day as garbage and compost collection
  • Accepted materials will include loose comingled cardboard, paper, plastics #1–7, film plastics, metal/tin, glass, and Styrofoam

The City Recycle Depot will continue operating, Circular Materials has indicated its intent to extend depot operations through December 2027. Residents will still be able to drop off recyclable materials at the depot, including Styrofoam and other accepted EPR materials.

Additional details about this exciting new service will be shared soon!
