Current Water Situation Update - April 14, 2026
Conditions over the fall and winter have remained dry, with limited snowpack heading into spring. While the city received approximately 67 mm of precipitation this winter, the total amount received was slightly less than an average year for the Camrose region (69mm) based on rainfall records since 1991. Also, with the dry fall that the city experienced in 2025, the precipitation received was not enough to make up for several years of dry weather, as much of the moisture is expected to soak into the ground rather than run off into Dried Meat Lake.
Based on these conditions, Stage 1 water restrictions may need to be implemented earlier in 2026, which increases the likelihood that we may need to move to Stage 2 restrictions – or higher – if conditions do not improve.
We will continue to monitor water levels and share updates. In the meantime, we encourage residents to continue using water wisely wherever possible.
