Mayer Aquatic Centre Annual Maintenance Shutdown
The Mayer Aquatic Centre will close for its annual maintenance shutdown from Sunday, August 30 to Sunday, September 27, 2026. The facility is scheduled to reopen on Monday, September 28, 2026.
What's Closed?
While the shutdown is underway, the facility will be closed to the public, which means there will be no public access to:
- Pools
- Hot tub
- Steam Room
- Fitness Centre
- Aquatic hallways and changerooms
- Pool deck and aquatic viewing area
For safety, the Aquatic Centre will remain secured while crews carry out planned maintenance and facility upgrades.
Why is the Aquatic Centre temporarily closing?
This scheduled closure gives staff time to complete work that is not possible while the pool is open and in use.
This year’s work includes:
- Preventative maintenance and inspections throughout the Aquatic Centre
- Draining and cleaning the 25 m pool
- Replacing boilers
- Partial grouting of the leisure pool
- Deep cleaning of all areas and pool basins
Completing this work during the shutdown helps protect the facility, support dependable operations and reduce the chance of unplanned closures in the future.
Aquatic Programming
The Aquatic Centre is planned to reopen on Monday, September 28, with regular hours and programming resuming.

During our shutdown, active 1-month or more passholders will have access to the Manluk Centre in Wetaskiwin at no extra cost!
