National Tree Day Proclamation
Trees are essential to the health, beauty, and sustainability of our community, providing environmental, economic, and social benefits for residents today and for future generations.
Trees improve air quality, reduce urban heat, enhance biodiversity, support climate resilience, and contribute to the overall well-being and livability of the City of Camrose.
National Tree Day serves as an opportunity to recognize the value of trees and to encourage residents, businesses, and organizations to support the planting, preservation, and stewardship of our urban forest.
The City of Camrose has recently initiated the Urban Forest Master Plan project, which will establish a long-term vision and strategy for managing, protecting, and enhancing the community's urban forest;
Public participation is an important component of the Urban Forest Master Plan project, and National Tree Day provides an opportunity to raise awareness and encourage residents to share their perspectives through the City's public engagement process.
Therefore Mayor PJ Stasko, on behalf of Camrose City Council, do hereby proclaim September 23, 2026, as "National Tree Day” in the City of Camrose. I encourage all residents to recognize the importance of trees, participate in urban forest stewardship, and learn more about the Urban Forest Master Plan project.
