Province is Raising the Education Tax
Property taxes are a concern for many residents, and we know changes to your bill can be frustrating or confusing.
This year, residents will see a larger increase on their property tax bill than usual. A significant portion of that increase is due to the provincial education property tax set by the Province of Alberta. While the City of Camrose collects this tax on the property tax notice, the City does not set this amount and must send the funds directly to the Province.
Municipalities across Alberta are also facing rising costs for supplies, services, and infrastructure, along with increasing responsibilities and limited growth in provincial funding. These pressures are affecting communities throughout the province, including Camrose.
The City of Camrose is currently finalizing the 2026 municipal property tax rates. The exact impact on individual properties will not be confirmed until property tax notices are issued in May, and more information will be shared with residents at that time.
