Upcoming Work on Mirror Lake
You may notice some activity on Mirror Lake near the spillway in the coming weeks, as work gets underway at different times. The purpose of this work is to assess the existing vegetation and habitat around the lake in preparation for some construction work that the City is planning to complete in the coming years.
July 3 - July 4
- Basin Environmental is expected to be on site to look at plants along the shoreline and the condition of the lake’s edge. They will also collect information from the middle of the lake, including water samples and underwater photos to better understand fish habitat.
Around July 6 – July 10
- Hydrasurvey is expected to complete a survey of the lake bottom.
Both contractors may be working on the water using a combination of small boats, as well as unmanned waterborne and airborne drones.
This work is part of the ongoing Mirror Lake Spillway Project as well as a potential sediment removal project, both of which the City is tentatively looking to complete in 2027. Learn more about the project here: www.camrose.ca/business-growth/city-projects.
Thank you for your patience while this work is underway. If you are near the lake, please watch for workers and equipment.
