Camrose Arts Council Board

About Us

The Camrose Arts Council Board is comprised of two city councilors and five Members-at-Large who are residents of Camrose. View the current members here. The Camrose Arts Council Board meets on the third Thursday of each month, except for July, August and December, at 5:00 p.m., in the Chuck MacLean Arts Centre.

Grant Opportunities

The Camrose Arts Council offers grants for Arts and Culture initiatives in Camrose. In 2024, Council has set aside $30,000 to fund the grants. There are two granting opportunities each year due on March 30 and September 30.

Steps to Receive a Grant

  1. Must follow the eligibility requirements as defined in the Arts and Culture Grant Funding Eligibility and Application Policy
  2. Complete application 
  3. Submit an application by March 30 or by September 30:
    • Email to the Camrose Arts Council Board or 
    • Mail it to City Hall, 5204 - 50 Avenue, Camrose, AB T4V 0S8 or
    • Drop it off in person at City Hall anytime between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
  4. If awarded, enter into a Grant Agreement with the City of Camrose. 
  5. Receive the grant funds.
  6. Report the results in the Final Account Report.

The City of Camrose and the University of Alberta in partnership offer No-Fee Events to support community engagement and accessibility to the Jeanne & Peter Lougheed Centre.  

What Are “No-Fee Events”?

No-Fee Events are community events held at JPLPAC where:

  • No space rental fees
  • No technical support charges (up to 12 hours)
  • Events must be free to attend and open to the public
  • Must support JPLPAC’s vision: promoting arts, culture, and education

Who Can Apply?

  • Anyone can apply — as long as the event aligns with JPLPAC’s vision
  • Applicants are encouraged to ensure the event benefits the City of Camrose, University of Alberta (Augustana), and surrounding communities

Eligibility Criteria

Must follow the eligibility requirements as defined in the Arts and Culture Grant Funding Eligibility and Application Policy

✅ Event aligns with JPLPAC’s cultural/educational mission
✅ Written confirmation of JPLPAC availability included
🚫 No fundraising events
🚫 No silver collections or donations at the door
🚫 No sales

Available Spaces

You may apply for the following spaces (each uses 1 No-Fee Event unless otherwise noted):

  • Cargill Theatre (includes Christenson-Nelson Gallery Lobby)
  • Cargill Theatre + Mayer Hall* (As support space only)
  • Cargill Theatre + Mayer Family Community Hall (2 No-Fee Events required)
  • Mayer Family Community Hall (includes Christenson-Nelson Gallery)
  • Christenson-Nelson Gallery

* Support Space is for performers only and not open to the public.

Applicant Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • Food & beverage services
  • Artist fees
  • Third-party rentals
  • Special tech needs
  • Additional fee may be charged for Mayer Family Community Hall Support Space
    All extra charges must be paid directly to JPLPAC
  • Follow all JPLPAC booking procedures

The Camrose Arts and Culture Master Plan was completed in 2016 which led to the establishment of the Camrose Arts Council whose first organizational meeting was held on February 3, 2017.
