Junior Lifeguard Club

The Camrose Tsunami Junior Lifeguard Club offers swimmers a variety of programming that not only builds their swimming skills but also their lifesaving skills.  The club is split into two streams: competitive and recreational.

The competitive stream is for the swimmer who desires to compete at a regional, provincial, national level and maybe even an international level. Within this stream we have multiple groups to fit various skills and personal goals.

  • Our introductory group, Puddle Jumpers, is suited for swimmers between 6-10 years of age, who are looking to explore the world of lifesaving. Practices are an hour long twice a week.
  • Our core group is for our emerging or experienced swimmers between the ages of 8-19 years and who are wanting to test their skills in competition.  Practices are two hours long and available twice or three times a week.
  • Our Senior group is for our experienced swimmer, between 15 -19 years of age and who is wanting a more intense training regime and who is looking to compete in long course. Practices are four times a week for two hours.

The recreational stream is less intense but equally focusses on swimming skills and offers a balance of in-class work that helps the swimmer achieve lifesaving courses that bridges the gap between the advanced courses such as Bronze Medallion and Cross or National Lifeguard. The Junior Rec group is for swimmers between 8-12 years of age and practices are twice a week and an hour long.  The Senior Rec group is for the older swimmers between 13-18 years of age and practices are twice a week for an hour and a half.

New this fall we are pleased to be offering a Masters group.  This is for the adult swimmer who is looking for fitness, add to their swimming regime or who are looking to compete.  Practices are twice a week for an hour, with an additional hour for swimmers wanting to compete in lifesaving competitions.  These are coached sessions, with sets designed to meet your personal goals.

There are two offerings of the Junior Lifeguard Club (October - December) and (January - April).
