Small Business Grants

The City of Camrose is investing in local businesses by supplying annual grants for façade improvements. We know that every dollar invested by the City—matched by business owners—enhances our streetscape helps make businesses more attractive to customers.

 

What are the eligibility requirements of the Façade Improvement Grant?

The Façade Improvement Grant is for businesses operating in the City of Camrose who are undertaking façade improvement projects.

Eligible businesses must:

  • Be located in the City of Camrose
  • Hold a valid City of Camrose business license for the storefront location for more than two years
  • Employ fewer than 20 employees
  • Own the storefront for which improvements are to be made or have the expressed permission of the owner at the time of the application
  • No overdue balances are owed for any accounts to the City of Camrose
  • Have not received money toward a façade grant in the last 5 years (new applicants will receive preference for granting over previous recipients)
  • Upon grant approval, enter into a grant agreement with the City of Camrose

 

The Façade Improvement Grant is a 50% matching grant for up to $4,000 per successful business applicant. More information is available in the application.

 

Lighting- includes coloured lights, decorative lights, sign lights, streetscape safety lighting, and more.

Paint- eligible paint includes a fresh coat of paint on your street-facing walls, windows, and trim or for decorative murals.

Signage- includes new signs or the refurbishing of signs and could include plaques to acknowledge the heritage value of the building.

General building aesthetics- includes awnings, creative features, accessibility improvements, cleaning up the street-facing appearance of the building.

Landscaping- includes permanent planters, general beautification, and permanent benches/charging stations.

A façade includes the street-facing features of a store-front property including lighting, paint, signage, general building aesthetics, and landscaping.

The Façade Improvement Grant opens April 13, 2026. All applications must be in by May 15, 2026. Successful candidates will be notified of approval by May 22, 2026. All eligible work should be completed with receipts, photos, and reports submitted by November 30, 2026.
