The Camrose Wildlife and Greenspace Stewardship Project (CWGSP) is a partnership developed to provide educational, recreational, historical, and tourism opportunities focused on wildlife and greenspace in the City of Camrose. It also provides citizens with knowledge on wildlife and their habitats and how these add to the quality of life for residents.
Summer Environmental Education Programs
Each summer we offer an education series on wildlife and greenspace issues. The programs are offered from the end of May to the beginning of August. Each Thursday night we host a program at 7:00pm at the Stoney Creek Centre. We cover a variety of interesting topics focusing on getting you and your family outdoors through activities including (but not limited to) geocaching, nature-scaping, wildlife, and plants.
On top of our weekly programming, we are also available for field trips, day camps, and private lessons on anything environment-related! For more information from the end of May to the beginning of August, you can contact our Wildlife and Greenspace Stewardship Coordinator at 780.672.0544 or email them at wildlifestewardship@camrose.ca.
Emerald Award
In 2015, the Camrose Wildlife Stewardship Society was recognized for their environmental achievements by receiving the Emerald Award. Since 2002 the Society has increased community knowledge and engagement through interpretive events, high-profile stewardship activities, research projects, and an annual wildlife festival. The Society demonstrates how they can assist local governments in achieving their vision of creating unique, desirable, and sustainable communities.
